Summary: The main function of product marketing manager is to help shape WhatsApp's consumer experience and develop marketing initiatives that drive consumer awareness, engagement, and retention aligned to the product.
 
The ideal candidate is someone who can drive both strategy and execution and cares deeply about WhatsApp's mission to connect the world privately. They are analytical and creative, highly collaborative, and will have a successful track record of launching & scaling mass-market consumer products or services. They will have a track record for collaborating closely with product teams, successfully representing the consumer across the product lifecycle, and leading complex cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.
 
Responsibilities
  • Work with Marketing Insights & Data Science to generate break-through quantitative, qualitative, and competitive insights
  • Build strong product positioning, clear narratives, and drive influence across the WhatsApp core consumer product to ensure we're delivering consumer value and driving understanding
  • Drive go-to-market plans working closely with cross-functional teams to determine effective launch strategy and communications sequencing
  • Partner with brand and integrated marketing on outbound marketing and advertising strategies and programs to drive consumer awareness, adoption and long term engagement
  • Understand the WhatsApp consumer and their connection with the product to drive meaningful new product/feature adoption + greater engagement.
 
Top Candidate Requirements
  • Foundational Product Marketing Skills (Inbound & Outbound):  Measured by 5+ years of product marketing experience in consumer facing role
  • Experience synthesizing Analytics and Market Research
  • Strong communication skills
 
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing or similar role working on products or services for global consumer brands.
  • Experience developing actionable user insights and driving analytically rigorous marketing strategies
  • Experience working closely with product and design teams in the product development process
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • International experience and knowledge of diverse cultural, social and business landscapes
  • Understanding of digital communication landscape both in the U.S. and internationally
  • Google Docs, FIGMA (design tool) would be a big plus but not a must have
