Contract Length: 3 months (W2), potential for extension/conversion pending performance

Job Description:
This is a Manufacturing technician role for an autonomous vehicle research effort. We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated and works well in a fast paced environment. The technician will be required to assemble various mechanical and electronic components as well as perform testing according to standard operating procedures. This role will be for a 3 month period.

Responsibilities:
  • Must possess basic mechanical aptitude and be able to assemble and disassemble mechanical and electronic systems of low to moderate complexity safely and professionally
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools as well as torque tools
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to follow SOPs and provide feedback to support process development
  • Perform functional testing on components using low-voltage power supplies
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and resolve technical issues
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills such as Word and Excel. Experience with Jira is a plus
Education and Experience
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing or related field
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in a technical or engineering field
  • Experience with handling ESD sensitive materials and components
Requirements and Responsibilities
  • Must possess basic mechanical aptitude and be able to assemble and disassemble mechanical systems of low to moderate complexity safely and professionally (e.g. roof racks, sensor assemblies, calibration equipment)
  • May need to support drivers with remote testing and diagnostics to understand the state of a test car and attempt to resolve the issue remotely (similar to remote tech support work)
  • Must be willing to travel, if needed, around the Bay Area.
  • Must be creative and patient in addressing difficult-to-diagnose malfunctions and able to carefully document system conditions, failure modes and corrective-actions taken.
Education and Experience
  • Experience as a professional automotive mechanic or technician preferred.
  • Experience with automotive and electronic diagnostics and repair preferred
