We are actively searching for a Senior Technical Project Manager who will be involved with real-world (messy) data, rapidly advancing technologies, legacy software solutions and business processes, and a wide range of engineers, technologists and scientists to build solutions that accelerate the drug development process. The team values minimal manual process, highly accurate data, and actionable insights into the project management tools we build, and we expect for the Sr. Technical Project Manager to mirror those values in our team's process as well.

DUTIES
  • Serves as the project manager representing the AI, Software Engineering and Cloud Infrastructure team on different initiatives to assess the scope and usage of our tools as well as managing certain operational activities, such as change request review and prioritization for the current solution.
  • Build automation to enable high quality data driven decision making for our project portfolio.
  • Maintains functional specifications, functional requirements, process flows, use cases, and user-interface design documents.
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, project team business project lead, vendors and other key stakeholders.
  • Planning and Management of scope, schedule, budget, resources.
  • Facilitates definition of the project scope and detailed project plans.
  • Independently drives and monitors project milestones and critical dates to identify potential risks in the project schedule.
  • Assesses variances from the project plan, gathers metrics, and develops / implements changes as needed to ensure the project remains within scope, on schedule, and under budget. Identifies project resource requirements and forms project teams by securing resources and mobilizing commitment.
  • Conducts project meetings (kickoffs, status, sponsor etc.). Establishes/runs project steering committee meetings.
  • Effectively manages the project team, including communicating individual roles and project expectations to ensure the project team has the tools and training required to perform effectively.
  • Evaluates and proactively communicates project updates, status, issues and risks to all project stakeholders.
  • Drives timely communication across IT functions and ensures timely business-based decision making by engaging the necessary sponsors / stakeholders.
  • Documents weekly status reports, meeting minutes, and conducts regularly scheduled project and budget reviews.
  • Adjusts project plans and tasks to ensure integration based on cross-project, resource, and schedule dependencies.
  • As needed, ensures visibility and supports integration for projects.
  • Manages project level risks, weighing and assessing probability, impact, documenting mitigation and contingency strategies.
  • Work with engineering managers and tech leads to build schedule automation into our issue tracking software to ensure early detection of project slippage
  • Be a point of contact for documentation/dashboard/wiki maintenance
  • Define, track and report on our performance metrics
  • Clean up and standardize our internal issue triage and ticket management processes that we will build processes around
  • Proactively evaluate and plan for deployment, training, communication, and other change management.
  • Accountable for effectively and efficiently coordinating and managing ongoing project meetings, presentations and communications.
  • Lead creation and approval of business continuity plan as it relates directly to a system, tool, or overall solution and provides input to the disaster recovery plan.
  • Responsible for documenting the outcomes of feasibility and needs/impact assessments, cost, time and other requirements with business lead and other stakeholders in order to determine appropriateness and obtain approvals to develop project scope.
 
SKILLS
  • Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle from conception to delivery.
  • Clear, concise, accurate communication (both verbal and written with audiences of varying technical abilities and business contexts).
  • A strong data-driven mentality and prioritization framework, to ensure focus on the highest impact work.
  • Able to dive deeply into both technical details and business needs.
  • Experience working with engineering teams to deliver products.
  • Ability to assess change requests from the user community and prioritize to prepare a release plan.
  • Ability to influence with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives, bring teams to consensus/alignment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively up and down, at all levels of the organization, teach and present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity.
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask and adapt.
  • Able to synthesize large amounts of information. Able to deliver results despite a shifting environment.
  • Ability to define problem statements clearly and accurately and apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify data-driven root causes.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong understanding of the software development process, including development, testing, and deployment, as well as work breakdown, dependencies, responsibilities (full SDLC).
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in a software project manager role, or equivalent experience leading development teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Math or related field
  • Proven analytical thinking, skills in metrics creation and project management, attention to details, and exceptional organizational skills
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience writing and organizing business requirements, processes and workflows.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to map data across different schemas.
  • Proficiency in creating process flows, system flows, and state diagrams.
  • Understanding of project processes (scheduling, documentation, risk analysis, and contingency planning).
  • Proficiency in AGILE/SCRUM methodologies.
  • Strong ability to use/manage project management tracking/reporting tools (including. JIRA/GitHub).
