Seeking a Sr. Product Designer with solid grounding in visual systems design and a passion for guiding teams toward the highest level of design craft and execution to join the News Feed Design XFN team, a pillar within the Feed and Stories org supporting the FB App. The News Feed XFN team helps teams enhance new experiences into News Feed in a way that accomplishes the product team's goal, while complying with the guidelines put in place to ensure a high-quality and consistent user experience. All teams looking to build on the News Feed must go through this team before introducing any changes.
  • As part of the NF XFN team you will work closely with all the Product teams across the FB app to review their incoming requests and proposals to ensure compliance with our News Feed guidelines.
  • We're looking for a strong systems designer with a sharp eye for extensible patterns who would like to play a key role in ensuring a high quality News Feed experience.
  • You're driven to look for adoption of design interaction patterns and/or bring up inconsistencies for subpar experience to the greater design community.
  • This person will look across the entire News Feed ecosystem to protect the design and brand integrity while also identifying opportunities to incrementally and responsibly evolve the experience.
  • You are comfortable collaborating and providing a creative point of view with product designers, and collaborating with engineers, content strategists, and researchers to bring a well informed design perspective.
  • You'll identify and help teams adopt design interaction patterns, and standards that can help evolve the overall News Feed experience.

Duties:
  • Review incoming requests delivered by the product teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of guidelines as well as high quality user experiences that comply with the standards and design guidance
  • Support the efforts of all Facebook app-wide initiatives
  • Work closely with the designers to communicate feedback and provide guidance and strategies in improving output
  • Document and monitor daily requests to ensure that the individual work quota is met
  • Manage work streams in an organized way that guarantees on time delivery and a clear workflow
  • Ensure our products and features are valuable for people, easy to use, and of the highest level of craft and execution
  • Collaborate with teams across the org to drive design alignment all the way through building and iterating
  • Be a strong voice to ensure we design and ship products that improve the user's experience on our platform
  • Effectively communicate request status and design rationale to your product team, the design team, and stakeholders
  • Proactively solicit feedback from other designers and xfn partners to improve the quality of your design
  • Participate in daily product meetings
  • When appropriate, identify new patterns and contribute to the News Feed Design Guidelines
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience delivering digital experiences that delight users
  • Strong commitment to design craft and execution as part of the development cycle
  • Strong systems thinker with evidence of delivering robust and extensible design patterns
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain ideas to others clearly and diplomatically
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A unique ability to identify areas that aren't pixel-perfect to design specs
  • Obsessed with identifying visual inconsistencies
  • A passion for influencing teams and driving the highest quality of design standards
  • Enjoys bringing clarity to chaos; Thrives in ambiguity and drives towards coherence
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively

  • Experience in building and shipping applications or software
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end (hybrid UX and UI) product design
  • Experience designing for groups of people (international audiences, multi-language localization, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end (hybrid UX and UI) product design
  • Proficient in using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Sketch, Figma)
  • Experienced visual designer and systems thinker with tech experience (preferred)
  • Experience with front-end programming a plus
  • Must have URL or case studies featuring examples of interaction design work
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in graphic, visual, or web design or equivalent experience
