JOB SUMMARY: Leads the production, development and implementation of specialized visual communications and creative services products for internal and external communications in support of business goals. Provides high-level consultation to leadership on tactical visual communications plans. Builds strong relationships with clients through trust, teamwork and knowledge to produce success on key initiatives. Typically an expert in one or more fields such as print publications, graphic design, displays, special events, film presentations, video production, live event production, photography and/or related activities. Responsible for the overall holistic creative output looking at the totality of the communications including the design, content and copywriting.
RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Manager/Director/AVP. This is an individual contributor role but may have direct reports based on organizational structure. May also be responsible for virtual/project teams.
Leads the development, production and distribution of communications programs and products to support complex internal client and external customer needs. May lead cross-functional teams to develop creative communications solutions including developing communications strategies, creative concepts, script writing and technology proposals. Responsible for the overall holistic creative output looking at the totality of the communications including the design, content and copywriting.
Provides consultation to senior management and project leadership to determine desired outcome of projects and to help clients understand the need for a return on creative marketing investments. Sets and enforces company style/image standards in graphics, video, photography, Flash, and content.
Recommends best practices based on metrics (what worked, what didn't work, how to improve).
Maintains knowledge of business unit's strategic priorities, vision and organizational environment to effectively respond to requests for marketing.
Typically specializes in a core communications production role (voice or visual) for internal and external audiences such as: presentations and other audio/visual programs; the creation of video, live event and electronic media productions; the planning and production of photography for multiple uses; interactive design, graphic design; live events management.
Assists with developing creative strategies with senior leadership. Supports the effective use of social media an as extension of creative strategy.
Reviews current technology in fields of interactive (web) development and graphic design, photography, video, social media, and live events. Identifies improved methods, materials, equipment, and resources that may benefit department productivity.
Responsible for adhering to production project budget, planning, management, reporting, administration and measurement.
May provide recommendations on the use of outside resources including contractors, freelancers, photographers, audio/visual vendors, print vendors, special events coordinators, and specialty item vendors. Negotiates contract terms and agreements through appropriate channels.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Undergraduate studies in art, visual design, communications, journalism, advertising or related creative services field; degree preferred.
Experience: Typically 7 or more years related experience in progressively responsible creative service positions such as video production, live event management, interactive (web) development, and/or photography including three years of general project management experience.
Knowledge: Proven knowledge of communication methodologies and processes, usability, social media trends, video production, live event production and/or photography. Proven knowledge of the company structure, organizational dynamics and strategies and priorities. Proven knowledge of consulting skills used to advise clients on creative execution, effective delivery, and value to the organizations.
Skills/Competencies: Customer-focused orientation. Must have demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and related software. Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to education, training, and development activities. Advanced verbal and written communication skills for the creation and delivery of communications projects and interaction with management and creative teams. Ability to set priorities, manage time, organize work, and meet deadlines.
