Research Associate II, Oncology Biomarker Development

Duties:
  • Isolation of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from whole blood
  • Enrichment of T cells and NK cells from PBMC, using magnetic bead technology
  • Thawing, culturing, passaging, and counting of human primary cells and cell lines
  • In vitro stimulation experiments involving co-culture of human primary cells and/or cell lines
  • Performing single-cell cytokine analysis using an IsoLight machine. Initial training will be provided. Once proficient, the researcher may be requested to train additional instrument users.
  • Graphing, summarizing, and reporting data
  • Keeping an accurate and complete laboratory notebook

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent skills in communication, organization, flexibility and an eagerness to learn. Must work well with others and be a team player.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture (sterile technique, cell counting, and passaging) is required.
  • Experience working with human whole blood and PBMCs is required.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to biosafety protocols for handling human biosamples is required.
  • Experience with flow cytometry is a plus.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a biology-related field (Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry preferred) with 3+ years of laboratory research experience or PhD in biomedical field with 0-2 years work experience.
