Position Summary: Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of design principles, practices and implementation in complex systems and assignments. General responsibilities include design concept generation, participating in design reviews, development and testing to assess performance against design specification; reliability testing, and assessment of system interactions. Makes independent decisions. Assist in the development of manufacturing processes and troubleshooting issues to determine root cause and possible engineering solutions.

Manager's Must Haves: Proficient in Solidworks, GD&T Trained, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Reliability, Design for Serviceability, Excellent technical writing skills, Microsoft Office Suite.
1. The ability to develop and articulate mechanical and instrument requirements based on Customer needs and System Architecture
2. The ability to quickly formulate design solutions (Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, etc.) to achieve requirements
3. The ability to work hands-on to create useful prototypes to evaluate solution concepts
4. The ability to create and evaluate trade-off criteria in order to select which concept is best suited to solve a particular problem
5. The willingness to take feedback from other team members as to the performance, feasibility, applicability, etc. of a particular design concept, and the ability to incorporate feedback into the design to improve it
6. The willingness to delegate the development and completion of design concepts to other team members, as needed, and the ability to provide meaningful constructive feedback on the designs
7. The ability and communication skills to interact with external design consultants, providing guidance, direction, and feedback as needed, in order to achieve project goals
8. The ability to compile, document, and present, as needed, the design concepts and the design history, rationale, and justification, and the ability to navigate (or learn to navigate) the PLM system for archiving the design history

BS degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
MS degree in directly related discipline + 4 years of related experience required;
PhD degree in directly related discipline + 2 years of related experience required.
