The Senior Enterprise Architect drives value through their deep hands-on experience with multiple applications and technologies. This role acts as a primary resource in transforming the architecture of the current platform into a highly scalable cloud-first technology platform.
Job Description
  • Conduct industry and competitor research to understand emerging and innovative solutions.
  • Design and code proof of concepts (POCs) that validate recommendations on new technologies while advising on steps to achieve adoption of technology.
  • Produce IT strategies and roadmaps based on business strategy, business and IT trends, and current and future architectures.
  • Coordinate with third-party application vendors regarding capabilities and alignment with business strategies
  • Develop and document reference architectures, position papers, and educational materials.
  • Provide technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate.
  • Interface across several business and IT areas, acting as visionary to proactively assist in leveraging enterprise capabilities and services.
  • Effectively communicate and influence others towards moving to future state architectures.
  • Establish best practices, patterns, and frameworks to ensure execution of highly scalable features.
  • Design a data platform that is core to the reporting, integration and user-experience needs of the business.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to think big and bold in design to move the platform to cutting-edge capabilities
  • Strong familiarity working with REST and/or SOAP APIs
  • Strong experience in creating enterprise-level platforms with a microservices architecture
  • Strong database design skills to leverage appropriate technology for various application types
  • Responsive and mobile-friendly web assets
  • Insurance industry background, specifically medical, dental, vision, hearing, etc. preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organization, decision making and management abilities
  • Excellent at presenting architecture and representing the architecture with internal and external customers via various forums – RFP responses, JAD sessions, technology review sessions, etc.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a directly related field or equivalent experience

  • Strong cloud-technologies experience with a proven record of building and maintaining cloud-native applications
  • Strong SQL knowledge to write and maintain complex queries.
  • 10+ years' experience designing, developing, implementing enterprise scale technology solutions
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in designing large-scale, enterprise-level applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Java
  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or other) a must.
  • 3+ years of working in an object-oriented language: Python, Go, Rust, R, Scala, Java or other OO compiled language
  • 3+ years' experience defining / implementing strategies under a CIO or technical leader
  • 3+ years in Web development frameworks like React, Angular, other Node.js based systems, Django, React-native, etc.
  • 2+ years of being part of Agile teams – Scrum or Kanban
  • 2+ years of scripting (JavaScript, Bash, R, etc.)
  • 2+ years of web development (PHP, etc.)
  • 3+ years of database – SQL
  • 2+ years of experience in using NoSQL database technology
  • Git/SVN, native Git-SCM or service providers experience (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket, etc.)
  • Fluent in BDD and TDD development methodologies
  • Work in an agile CI/CD environment (Jenkins experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3 (including complied CSS technologies)
  • Proven experience in implementing CI/CD pipeline embracing core DevOps principles
  • Proven experience in database design for transactional and data warehouse purposes
  • Experience in test automation processes preferred
  • Experience using agile development practices
