The Infrastructure Architect brings the best knowledge and expertise available to provide the process, strategy, technology awareness, and engineering expertise to help the firm to successfully deliver and manage the overall technical infrastructure environment. This individual is a technology generalist who defines and communicates infrastructure engineering standards/processes, reviews the technical architecture of infrastructure and application projects, and oversees the implementation and delivery of the technical vision. 
 
As a member of the Security and Infrastructure Group reporting directly to the VP, the Infrastructure Architect will work as a collaborative team member with existing vendors, managed services partners, and internal teams to design, architect, and deliver projects related to infrastructure architecture. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.  This position will also participate in the escalation for incident response and root cause analysis processes.  Intermittent travel between the offices may be required.

Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Provide thought leadership/direction on end-to-end technical/engineering solutions as related to the infrastructure environment
  • Manage priorities and evaluate alternative process/project strategies; present & justify proposals to management & IT leadership
  • Participate in the preparation of materials and oral presentations for constituents and management. Play a lead role in meetings relating to specific technical projects or tasks
  • Research, evaluate, and develop a wide variety of complex technology components of a tactical and strategic nature
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors.  Understand and influences vendor strategies and product directions.  Participate in vendor negotiations pertaining to the acquisition of products or services
  • Develop and maintain specialized knowledge of current and emerging technologies within assigned function or platform
  • Develop and recommends innovative solutions to business problems of moderate complexity, including preparation of cost-benefit analyses
  • Document changes and resolutions and follow approved change control processes
  • Maintain accurate and effective documentation of infrastructure solutions
  • Participates in team meetings and group discussions regarding overall infrastructure architecture and application integration
  • Advises service desk, systems, network and other support teams and assists with 3rd tier troubleshooting
  • Research and recommend innovative solutions, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Perform periodic performance, availability, and capacity planning analysis of current infrastructure solutions
 Job Qualifications
  • A working knowledge of current computer and communications technologies and disciplines, including Cloud, Servers, Storage, Networking, Data Centers, Security, Messaging, and Managed Services.
  • Current and future state knowledge of technologies used in like companies and the IT industry in general
  • Strong system engineering skills with an emphasis on overall enterprise scale architecture
  • Experience with cloud integration and strategy experience with an overall understand of integrating security with cloud design and implementation
  • Must have work experience in a company of equal or greater size in terms of the infrastructure complexity and technology service providers
  • Understanding of Cloud, Cybersecurity, High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts as they relate to Open Systems architecture
  • 10-15 years of relevant and progressive experience in a distributed computing environment is preferred.  Must have demonstrated skills in tools and techniques appropriate to the above job duties.
