Senior System Engineer

We are in search of a Senior Systems Engineer to be responsible for the implementation and  support of technologies deployed throughout our clients organization. You will assist in capacity planning, disaster recovery, datacenter management, backups, documentation, server based application support, and advanced troubleshooting across all technology components. Ensure established service level agreements are met.
Responsibilites include:
  • Ensuring that enterprise computing resources are available to the end users at all times.
  • Maintaining and managing existing server, network, and application environments.
  • Providing recommendations for system architecture upgrades, migrations, and new deployment.
  • Interacting with all system vendors to resolve problems quickly and accurately.
  • Developing documentation of critical system infrastructure within the operating environment.
  • Updating key systems as needed to ensure regulatory compliance. Systems such as (but not limited to) VMware, Microsoft, Storage Area Networks, VMware View, Unidesk.
  • Implementing new equipment. Plan and expand the enterprise systems infrastructure. Coordinate systems capabilities with user and business needs while anticipating future requirements of both the internal systems and end users.
  • Reviewing security architecture.
  • Acting as technical resource for staff within the Information Technology department.
  • Assisting in delivering successful change management and maintenance scheduling.
  • Assisting  with the remediation of system vulnerabilities, and escalation of unpatched issues.
  • Architecting and troubleshooting  network segments, including VLANS.
  • Serveing as point of escalation for installation, sustainment, troubleshooting and repair of computer hardware, peripherals, software applications, and third party Technology Service Providers
  • Adhering to industry regulations and best practices for continuity, security, and integrity of the IT systems.
  Required Skills and Experience: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with developing and managing key infrastructure
  • VCP certification is required
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience with VMware (ESXi and Horizon), Windows and Linux server, server hardware
  • Experience with Cloud services is a plus
  • Proficient in managing and troubleshooting a secured Windows environment (Active Directory)
  • Working experience with configuration & automation management tools
  • Secondary technologies: Networking (layer 2/3),Network Virtualization (NSX) , Enterprise Backup technology, RSA Technologies, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Sharepoint
  • Strong IT operations and engineering background
  • Strong technical background, strong written and oral communication skills, project management skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment 
  • Ability to spot problematic areas, analyze solutions, propose resolutions, and coordinate their implementation
  • Implement and document standard procedures for server build, to maintain security, business continuity and regulatory compliance
  • Support, transfer knowledge, and mentor other department employees
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs on occasions
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to address system upgrades or problem resolution
  • Ability to work in an fast paced environment
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deliverables concurrently, keeping stakeholders and supervisors informed of progress
  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively across departments
