Data Center Technician

Harvard Partners is seeking a Data Center Technician to perform rack-and-stack and assist in the management of our client's data centers. The Data Center Technician ensures issues are identified and repaired quickly, and that all internal customer demands are being met.
This position will be primarily located in East Providence, RI and must be able to be onsite in Medford, MA as needed (must have own transportation).
Work schedule is 1:00 P.M.- 9:00 P.M

 
Responsibilities
Assist team with planned Rack Stack activities
Data Center physical access facilitation/administration - escorting of vendors, facilitation of approved tours and temporary access requests
Moves/Adds/Changes assistance for Server, Networking, VoIP, and Video Conference Equipment
Tape Handling
Delivery of physical Incident or Request assistance by a capable technician resource who takes active direction from a, (generally remote), subject matter expert and/or technology owner
Perform physical reboot of device by pressing hard reset button after taking instruction from a subject matter expert and/or technology owner, if required
Check for hardware failure lights or console error message after taking instruction from a subject matter expert and/or technology owner, if required
Assist in resolution of physical network fault by checking if the network cable is physically connected (push in)
Where necessary, show hardware engineer where equipment is located in problem break/fix type situations and also change/scheduled maintenance. Ensure that a subject matter expert and/or technology owner is informed so that device can be checked before the engineer leaves site
Assist with the inspection of physical hardware problems. Take instruction from a subject matter expert and/or technology owner, if required
Respond to ad-hoc, low level skill tasks which is scripted/documented/in writing, while in communication with a subject matter expert and/or technology owner
Responsible for customer interaction
Ability to work successfully in a team as well as independently
Microsoft Outlook and Excel experience
