Job Description:
This position is for an Engineering Technician in the Harris Design Engineering group. The candidate will work with Design Engineers to assist in the design/support of Harris RF products and is responsible for the following:
 
Responsible for conducting engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data to assist in the development of Harris RF products.
Collaborate with Design Engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data
Assist in the interpretation of test data
Construct with and without explicit documentation engineering fixtures and test cables
Work closely with Design Engineering team to support testing and modifying of radios and amplifiers
Support product modifications including but not limited to soldering parts on boards, assembling and Client-assembling radios and amplifiers
Performs engineering tests, detailed experimental testing or operational test and fault isolation on Harris RF products
Proficient with the troubleshooting of RF, analog and digital circuits from unit level down to the component level
 
Qualifications:
2 years post-secondary/AA-AS degree in Electronics plus 2+ years' experience
7+ years of experience or more in electronics with a concentration in troubleshooting and test
 
Preferred Skills:
Candidate must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to troubleshoot products at both unit and component levels
Ability to generate and analyze test data to determine areas that need improvement and to track progress
Strong working knowledge of Analog and Digital test equipment; such as Spectrum and Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Signal Generators
Strong communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Mechanical aptitude
Working knowledge of electronic components
Working knowledge of LabVIEW
Working knowledge of RF
