Job Summary: Candidate must be able to write engaging, entertaining copy under tight deadlines within a strong bookazine format. Story mix may include profiles and long-lead features in addition to well-packaged, useful service features. May write book-length continuing narrative or series of related pieces. Must also be able to write excellent short, pithy copy as needed. Successful candidate can pitch and sell stories, assist with team story development and depending on assignment have a broad grasp of entertainment, news, history and current events. Stories should be strong and suitable for all formats, print and digital.
 
Primary Responsibilities may include: developing story and subject ideas, drawing on personal interest and topical issues; researching material using the internet, personal interviews and other methods; confirming and re-confirming accuracy and fairness of all submitted writing; writing and rewriting material, sometimes repeatedly, to achieve the desired effects and under guidance of Editorial Director and/or Edition Editor. Submitting commissioned material in the style and length assigned and on deadline, receiving feedback and criticism, and revising work as a result.
 
Requirements: A senior writer must have creativity and an 'original voice', an excellent command of written English, grammar, literary skills and devices, motivation and self-discipline to work without supervision. Must be able to work to tight deadlines and understand the audience that the project aims to reach.
