We want an experienced IT Security Engineer with server administrator skills and a dedicated security background.  This critical support role will be responsible for supporting the review, research and implementation of the remediation measures indicated for endpoints (servers, workstations, printers, etc.) that are discovered from the vulnerability reporting tools. The successful candidate must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities and to:
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with business and technical staff to assist them in protecting the agency information assets
  • Have the ability to completely document a task, particularly where it requires the diligence to train staff and protect the agency assets
  • Set and work within deadlines to complete assignments, exercise resourcefulness and prioritize tasks to meet multiple demands
  • Follow set objectives and goals to measure performance
  • Effectively work independently and interact with others in a team environment
  • Assist in the delivery of projects on-time and within budgetary constraints
  • Be detail oriented and thorough
  • Be able to develop and follow procedures, analyze problems and assist in the designing of effective plans for process improvement
  • Ability to identify security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans
  • Support, and evaluate security-focused tools, services and reports (e.g. Nexpose, Nessus, Solarwinds, etc.)
  • Interpret security policies and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of the information security principles and concepts
  • Technical knowledge surrounding the use of Virtual Machines, their implementation, administration and baseline security settings  (e.g. VmWARE)
  • Technical knowledge of Windows Servers (2003 and above)
  • 2+ years hands on knowledge and skills for administration of Windows Server 2008 and above experience, including administration and baseline security settings
  • Demonstrated hands on assistance/coordination with implementation and/or configuration of networking architecture and problem analysis
  • Proven experience implementing security controls frameworks (e.g. meeting NIST requirements, PCI, etc.)
  • Hands on experience with one or more of these tools: Proofpoint, Palo Alto, Bluecoat, Nexpose, Nessus and Solarwinds is a huge plus
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science or equivalent
  • IT security related professional certification(s)  (e.g. CISSP, HISPP, CEH, or equivalent)
