Manager of Store Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervising all phases of project development for the division Engineering department. Designing and developing floor plans, and advising members in their store development needs. Work with Architects and Engineers to develop complete project working drawings. Coordinate construction and equipment installation. Work with Corporate staff to develop a budget for the Engineering division.

SUPERVISION:

Under indirect supervision.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Schedule work within the Division Engineering Staff.
2. Supervise project development with Project Engineers.
3. Implement all Engineering development programs and criteria.
4. Execute concept criteria.
5. Coordinate equipment and operating needs with project Architect/Engineer.
6. Coordinate with Corporate staff on site selection of new stores and the procurement of bids on construction.
7. Review all site plans for proper design, including parking, lighting, receiving, etc.
8. Review all project budget and scopes of work for completeness and accuracy.
9. Visit job site for inspection of projects.
10. Check equipment for proper installation.
11. Assist in authorizing payment on equipment transactions.


IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist non-members (via Contract ) in acquiring and purchasing equipment.
2. Perform other duties as requested necessary to total store development.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


Any combination of education, training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge

Computer literacy (Auto-CAD); reading blueprints; store layouts; preparing budgets; and grammar, standard English usage, punctuation, and spelling.

Abilities

Be creative and analytical in designing store layouts; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; read and perform mathematical calculations at a college level.

Experience, Education and Training

Experience in CAD, drafting, and a college degree in construction management or equivalence. Minimum five years of work experience in store planning.

Physical Requirements

Perform bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching from floor level to six feet in height for filing. Must be able to sit for the duration of 4 hours for designing. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Working Environment

Indoors and outdoors. Must be able to visit the job site of projects which may include noise, dust, mechanical, electrical, and safety hazards. Must be able to work in cramped spaces and in poor lighting and ventilation.

Licensing/Certification

Must have a motor vehicle license.

Miscellaneous Requirements

Must be able to operate a car.
