RN - Stepdown/Intermediate Care - 6 South

1.General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Nursing assessment, medications, some drips are done on this unit - titration may be done by protocol unless specified MD ordered titration. Certify line insertions, assist in some bedside procedures, rapid interventions,
Need nurses with ICU or intermediate experience. Patients will be both medicine and cardiology.


2.Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
Cerner documentation. Accu dose, will be changing to McKesson. Philips bedside monitors in use for continous monitoring. EKG machine, bladder scanner, triology vents for CPAP, BiPAP, High flow nasal cannular. There is respiratory therapy support.


3.Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Intermediate or ICU(if ICU experienced must be ok with 1:3 pt ratio and working on stepdown type unit)


4.Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
Georgia license or compact. ACLS and BLS


5.Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
Every other Weekend. No call. Employee will not be alone. There is manager and assistant manager support as well as manager on call outside of normal day shift.


6.Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)
Float to 6N with Cardiac surgical patients which is also intermediate care. If experienced, could float to ICU


7.Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
15 bed, all private rooms, intermediate care unit


8.Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)

1 nurse to 3 patients

9.Dress Code:
navy blue scrubs
