Minimum Education and Work Experience


Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification preferred.
Five (5) years of experience in surgical nursing.
Two (2) years of nursing management experience preferred.

Essential Functions


Assumes 24- hour responsibility for administrative and operational functions of the Hosptial Surgical Services areas.
Assumes 24- hour responsibility for administrative and operational functions in conjunction with Department Managers for the following areas: Central Supply, Radiology and Materials.
Assists surgeons in operations through provision of qualified staff; formulates schedule whichprovides staff available for all procedures.
Consults with Chief Nurse Officer on nursing concerns and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.
Defines and ensures compliance with standards of patient care and nursing practice
Plans and organizes departmental activities to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instruction of surgeons, anesthesiologists and hospital administrative procedures
Other duties as assigned.
