General job duties and types of procedures required:
Nursing assessments, medication passing, Telemetry interpretation, wound care/dressing changes. Surgeries: Gallbladder, Appendix, Orthopedic, Gynecological.

Equipment utilized in the unit/department:
EPIC computer charting, Pyxis medication administration, Hospira IV pumps

Required skills and minimum years of experience:
Minimum 2 years experience in Medical Surgical environment. Thorough patient assessment skills. Experience preferred in Cardiac, Pulmonary, and/or Orthopedic services.

Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required:
Current Indiana RN license and BLS required. ACLS and PALS preferred.

Shift or schedule requirements:
6A-6P day shift, 6P-6A night shift. No call required and will not work alone. Weekends are required as needed to fill schedule.

26 bed department - 22 Med Surg and 4 Progressive / CCU beds

Nurse to patient ratio of this unit:
1:4-5

Dress Code:
Caribbean Blue scrubs

Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program:
7 business days of general and nursing orientation in Ft Wayne, then one shift of orientation on unit.
Orientation will be Mon-Fri week 1 and Mon-Tues week 2 - 8 hour days. MANDATORY ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL 7 DAYS OF ORIENTATION.
