MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of large-scale database administration, repository management, and data warehousing practices
  • Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational and dimensional)
  • Working knowledge of large-scale database back-end systems, including SQL Server 2008 R2 / 2012
  • Experience in operating Oracle 11g or later versions.
  • Working knowledge of database front-end systems integration, including MS Access.
  • Ability to write complex ETL procedures using SQL / T-SQL
  • Demonstrated experience in developing SQL Server objects, SSIS packages, reports, and complex data loading / unloading server jobs.
  • Hands on knowledge of using XML technologies in database systems (XML, XSL, XSD)
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating database systems into different platforms.
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting and resolving database system errors.
  • Experience in optimizing the performance of large-scale database systems and ability to perform maintenance procedures effectively.
  • Good oral and written communication and ability to write organized technical documentation, i.e. system process flows, user operation manuals, etc.
  • Must be able to work under schedule pressure and meet deadlines.
DESIREABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Familiarity with New York City's data share platforms, including Open Data (DOITT's DataShare platform).
  • Familiarity with New York City's financial and procurement systems (FMS, PIP, VENDEX, and APT).
  • Experience in business intelligence tools, including MS Business Intelligence, Tableau, Oracle BI, Power BI, Opera Solutions, OBM Watson Analytics, and IBM Cognos.
  • Knowledge of National Information Exchange Methodology (NIEM)
  • Prior on-line database systems experience (i.e. PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
  • Web front-end technologies experience (HTML, Ruby on Rails, etc.)
  • Experience in object-oriented languages (i.e. Java, C#, etc.)
  • Experience in scripting languages (i.e. VBA, PowerShell, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in several multi-dimensional and data mining techniques such as EDW, ODS, DM, ROLAP and MOLAP
  • Familiarity with Agile and SDLC project methodologies.
  • Use of software development collaboration tools, including Jira, Slack, Team Foundation, and Base Camp.
  • Proficiency in systemic data clean-up techniques.
