Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of DGO Data Governance in the U.S. ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Senior Manager is responsible for supporting the overall U.S. data governance strategy and deployment of data governance capabilities. In particular, the Senior Manager will be responsible for:
  • Enabling the Bank's adoption of the Data Governance Framework
Supporting Data Domain efforts to adhere to Data Management Policies

Accountabilities
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Supports regulatory initiatives and efforts relating to data management
  • Ensures business stakeholder understanding, alignment, and commitment to the objectives of the data governance and management program.
  • Understands business requirements and aligns them to the objectives of the data management program
  • Champions the adoption of a data culture
  • Collaborates with partners to develop and enhance the Bank's overall data governance and management capabilities, policy, practices, and supporting technology
  • Executes medium and long-term initiatives supporting the data governance framework
  • Governance:
  • Leads definitions and implementation of industry leading data governance practices and data management capabilities. Collaborates with partners to develop and enhance the Bank's overall data governance and management capabilities, policy, practices, and supporting technology,
  • Defines data management practices and capabilities relating to data provisioning, metadata, lineage, reference data, and change management.
  • Manages data domain relationships, assisting to mature data domains and support business ownership of data governance activities.
  • Establishes the standards, policies and procedures for the US data governance program.
  • Monitors compliance with data policies and standards.
  • Develops and implements US data governance dashboard for the communication to monitor and report on data management progress
  • Develops business cases and performance metrics to secure program funding/resources and to measure business value.
  • Ensures data governance and management capabilities are implemented in accordance with enterprise policies and standards.

  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)
  • Understanding of organizational design and the ability to shape and drive large-scale, cross-functional programs around people, technology, processes, and tools.
  • Experience with strategic influencing and education of cross-functional stakeholders regarding the value of data governance.
  • Experience with data governance, data quality, and general data management tools and techniques.
  • Minimum qualifications:
    • Degree in IT or Business related experience preferred
    • 10+ years of Data Management related experience (e.g., Data Quality, Metadata, Issue Management, Reference Data, Data Provisioning, etc.)
    • Knowledge of U.S. financial regulatory environment is preferred
    • 5+ years of experience in Global Banking and Markets
    • 20+ years in Financial Services
