IT Project Manager with Drug Discovery Experience (Biologics - Biopharma)

Required Skills:
  • At least 8 years of prior experience working in a project management capacity on IT projects.
  • Exposure to the Biopharmaceutical Research & Development industry; in particular a working knowledge of early stage Drug Discovery in early Research and Development.
  • Experience with formal SDLC practices.
  • Experience with formal Agile practices.
  • Track record in managing complex, highly interrelated IT projects.
  • History establishing PM practices and instilling better mgmt. habits in people a strong plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical writing / documentation; organizes and presents ideas in a convincing and compelling manner.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams; able to provide team leadership.
  • Outgoing personality; self-starter able to work interactively and independently with stakeholders.
  • Possess strong business acumen; possess a broad, enterprise-wide view and understanding of strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.
  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in computer science, engineering, physical sciences, or life sciences.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook or similar suite of contemporary tools.
  • Understanding of JIRA or similar PM issue tracking / development supportive tool.
  • Lean Thinking / Six Sigma educated a plus.
  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) 4+ Certification a plus.
  • PMP Certification a plus.
  • Scrum related Certification a plus.
  • Infrequent overnight travel to central NJ sites.

Project Description:
Client has developed a highly successful portfolio of companies, assets, and capabilities as part of the company's strategies to discover and develop new medicines and therapies. The Redwood City, CA site is central to that strategy and our Research into Biologics technologies. A strong, well run IT Portfolio is critical to ensure the digitization and analytics capabilities are in place to deliver on our promise to help patients prevail over serious diseases.

Client is seeking a Sr. PM to support this portfolio under the direction of the Discovery IT PM Lead and in partnership with the RWC IT Site Head. The PM role will initially drive aggregation and organize the existing demands; ensure projects are well understood, well estimated, prioritized, and diligently executed to deliver business value in a timely fashion and within expectations; and then assist in maturing overall PM practices across the RWC site.
  • Work with RWC IT Leadership to continuously prioritize the portfolio.
  • Ensure efforts are aligned with the RWC IT Roadmap and related initiatives.
  • Work with site business analysts, technical teams, and scientific stakeholders to develop project plans & schedules, refine scope, identify assumptions & dependencies, and clarify full range of resource needs.
  • Ensure alignment with IT teams on related efforts across other R&D sites and other Enterprise IT teams.
  • Drive efforts to successful outcomes; continually monitoring progress, tracking tasks and objectives, setting expectations, and holding teams accountable to deliver key objectives of the program/project(s).
  • Identify and manage risks and issues. Work with the project team, clients and other stakeholders to develop strategies to mitigate risks as appropriate.
  • Coordinate stakeholder assessments and management of stakeholders/sponsors.
  • Maintain project governance; coordinate and manage project meetings, communications, and best practices.
  • Promote solid requirements maturity; ensuring requirements (Business, Functional, Non-Functional, Users Stories, etc.) are tracked, traceable, and verified to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure completeness of documentation and appropriate compliance / quality policies are met.
  • Plan, measure, and track key performance indicators of the project.
  • Regularly report status to business and IT sponsors. Prepare periodic status reports for project team, steering committees and other program governance.
  • Assist informatics teams and project sponsors in executing a communication and change management strategy in support of project execution and rollou.t
  • Assist with maturing an Agile development process; Identify instances where existing processes may be streamlined or improved.

This 6+ month position starts ASAP.
