Test Engineer

Purpose Statement:

As a Test Engineer, you will work as a part of a multidisciplinary, global team developing cutting edge IoT products for the lighting controls market. You will work directly with software developers, hardware engineers, engineering technicians, and systems engineers focused on delivering new products to meet customer and business objectives. You will play a key role in the product development process, including development of product requirements, verification of new features and releases, development and operation of test systems, and analysis of escaped defects.

 Essential Functions:

What You'll Do:

  • Understand product requirements and customer objectives for supported products
  • Develop awareness of all product quality objectives, including hardware and embedded software
  • Verify that proposed product requirements and conceptual designs are testable
  • Develop product validation plans to achieve test coverage and quality objectives
  • Conduct testing of new features and bug fixes according to product requirements
  • Conduct acceptance testing of prototype hardware and candidate software according to the product's validation plan
  • Communicate test results with stakeholders using issue reporting tools and test campaign reports
  • Collaborate with product engineers and software developers to assist in root cause analysis and issue resolution
  • Develop and maintain test infrastructure, including test system equipment, testing frameworks, and automation test cases
  • Maintain test coverage tracking and reporting tools to assist in release approval process
  • Assist in the analysis of escaped defects and product quality issues
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with engineers, developers, and product owners
  • Proactively share best practices and tools with test engineers supporting other products and product families

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 2+ years of experience in a product development or quality assurance environment
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent programming and scripting skills
  • Demonstrated practical experience with Python programming language
  • Familiarity with C or C++ programming language
  • Competency with Git source code management software
  • Knowledge of basic electrical and electronics concepts
  • Familiarity with electrical measurement equipment, such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and related laboratory instrumentation
  • Proficient in both Windows and Linux computing environments



  • Experience with wireless communications technologies and protocols such as Bluetooth and Zigbee
  • Experience with embedded systems or IoT products
  • Experience with CI/CD or DevOps toolchains
  • Familiarity with the Agile Software Development methodology
  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development techniques
  • Familiarity with Jira issue and project tracking software
  • Familiarity with virtual machine and application container technologies
