POSITION SUMMARY: Support the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs (AVP) and Dean of Students (DoS) in creating an inclusive campus environment for students. Provide administrative and office support to the AVP and the DoS. Anticipate and initiate action regarding administrative detail as it relates to office management and the operation of the AVP areas of supervision and the college as a whole.  Provide leadership to special projects as assigned by the AVP and the DoS. Exercise discretion and independent judgement in handling sensitive material and/or information based on in-depth knowledge of college policies, procedures and practices.     
Administrative support
  • Support efforts to establish a student culture where diversity is valued, and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership.
  • Serve as an active member of the Student Advocacy and Achievement Team (SAAT) the AVPs areas of supervision.
  • Support counseling services including scheduling of calendar appointments.
  • Assist Associate Vice President and Dean of Students in monitoring and managing individual and area budgets
  • Anticipate and initiate action to be taken regarding phone calls, emails, correspondence, meeting scheduling and arrangement, and persons to be contacted in all routine procedures for the AVP and the DoS.
  • Manage the electronic calendars of the AVP and the DoS.  Adjust schedules as necessary using discretion and good judgment in rescheduling appointments. Coordinate travel arrangements and paperwork.
  • Arrange meetings and logistics for programs and other gatherings by reserving meeting rooms and making appropriate arrangements for seating, technology, food, etc. Attend meetings as requested to take minutes. Disseminate information as directed.
  • Receive visitors and respond to inquires from internal and external stakeholders, whether in-person, by phone call or email.  Exercise discretion and good judgement in responding and problem-solving.  Consult as appropriate.
  • Assist AVP and DoS in coordinating the staff and activities. Assist in management of AVP and DoS staff projects such as staff meetings, retreats, and professional development.
  • Complete administrative paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion, including coordinating with all of AVPs and DoS area on an efficient paperwork flow.
  • Prepare correspondence including composing and/or editing, typing and proofing.  Research, develop, and prepare special reports and materials as requested.  Maintain files and records as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information related to student records, personnel and organization issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Project Management
  • Serve as support on college-wide guided pathways initiative, retention initiative, and women's resource program.
  • Develop, manage and update the guided pathways webpage, student affairs professional development webpage, college-wide retention and communications through AVP and DoS.
  • Support efforts to ensure compliance with Colorado Community College System policies, CCA procedures, and state and federal requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners on division and college initiatives.

  • Master's degree in Education, Human Relations, or Social Sciences
