Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Company/Position Overview
In this role as a senior technical member of the Integrated Cloud Team, you will work on the design and implementation of core foundational components supporting a major cloud initiative. This role will be primarily responsible for delivering a fully functioning network service with secure access points between the datacenter or consumer environment and the commercial service provider environment. This network service component is part of an over-arching hybrid cloud solution including Azure government cloud and an additional commercial cloud provider to be identified later.
 
This is a hands-on opportunity with documentation requirements. The cloud engineer will work closely with existing security, networking and identity management groups to accomplish these goals and will document critical design and configuration details.
Mandatory Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technology discipline and/ or equivalent related implementation experience in lieu of degree
  • Overall 12+ years of experience
  • 5+ years' experience with cloud infrastructure technologies (VPC, Vnet, Route53, Azure DNS, ELB, Azure LB, IAM, RMS, etc.)
  • 10 years of infrastructure experience (firewalls, load balancer, AD, DNS, etc.)
  • Demonstrated design and implementation experience of FedRAMP compliant environments within Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Successfully implemented ExpressRoute, DirectConnect, and/or commercial cloud network service
  • Experience with crafting IdAM roles, as well as periodic review of security practices
Key Qualifications:
 
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP and government cloud security controls
  • Must be comfortable diagnosing and troubleshooting problems, performing root cause analysis
  • Ability to understand security controls and speak the language with security teams
  • Comfort in speaking with non-technical groups about requirements and planning
  • Must possess outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of datacenter architecture and design including networking, SANs, and HA/DR all with an understanding of integrating within a Cloud Computing Reference Architecture
  • Cloud Certification(s) (preferred)
  • Fluency with schematics, flowcharts, graphs and standard design tools (MS Visio) is necessary.
Desired Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Skills)
  • Implementation of hybrid cloud solution with an on-premise private government cloud environment
  • Understanding and contribution to enterprise architecture including network, security, application, etc. with a system engineering view
  • Familiarity with VMWare technologies
