SCOPE
Under this task order, the contractor will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:
  • Collaborate with CEU/CGB senior staff and statistician within the Biostatistics Branch (BB) to program and conduct analyses, primarily absolute risk estimation, to help inform national screening and management guidelines for cervical pre-cancer/cancer.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and clinicians in cervical cancer screening to identify and complete needed analyses.
  • Work with staff on preparing reports for presentation and/or for publication.
  • Perform data programming, analysis and presentation by preparing charts, tables and graphs using software such as R, SAS and STATA.
  • Check and confirm the accuracy of calculations conducted by collaborating programmers, analysts, and presenters to guard against mistakes in design, conduct, or presentation of risk estimates.
  • Learn and use specialized computer programs and other tools in the conduct of duties.
  • Function as a compatible member of a multidisciplinary research team.

DELIVERABLES. Upon request, the contractor shall provide documentation evidence of any and/or all work product, including, but not limited to, the following tasks:
  • Work products and documents related to data programming, analysis, and presentation by preparing charts, tables, and graphs, using software such as R, SAS, and STATA.
  • Work products and documents related to collaborating with other researchers and clinicians in cervical cancer screening.
  • Work products and documents related to reviewing and confirming the accuracy of calculations conducted by collaborating programmers, analysts, and presenters to guard against mistakes in design, conduct, or presentation of risk estimates.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER EXPERTISE REQUIRED. The contractor must have:
  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Mathematics, or Computer Science). Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Master's degree is equivalent to a Ph.D.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field.
  • Extensive experience programming in R, as evidenced by development of well-organized, well-documented R code and the ability to check R code written by others.
  • Knowledge of statistics, including survival analysis.
  • Organizational abilities, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to present results of analysis effectively in speech and in writing.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Displayed proficiency in SAS, STATA, R, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

The place of performance is 9609 Medical Center Drive, 6 East, Rockville, MD 20850.
This work may also be performed remotely at the discretion of the IC, NCI DCEG.


OPERATIONAL HOURS
Work will be performed up to a total of 40 hours per week during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, excluding Federal holidays.


SAFETY ISSUES
Work is performed in an office setting. There are no known safety issues.
