Dangerous Goods (DG) Data Readiness Specialist

Job Description: Job Overview:
This role is focused on the critical process of preparing and supporting the Dangerous Goods (DG) data in compliance with CFR, TDG, and international air (ICAO/IATA) and vessel (IMO/IMDG) regulations for delivery into various live SAP systems. This data readiness activity is critical as it ensures continuous compliance with transportation regulatory directives and business continuity.

The successful candidate will work as part of a global data readiness team. Daily interaction will take place with other data readiness specialists, Transportation Regulatory SMEs, Hazard Communication SMEs and various Diamond System Solution members.

• Expert knowledge of classification of transportation regulations: ICAO/IATA, CFR, TDG, and IMDG - minimum 3 yrs recent experience preferred
• Knowledge of IMO BLG, ADR and RID a plus
• Expert knowledge of SAP DG functions (DG Specialist level) a plus
• Certification/training in, 49 CFR, Canadian TDG, IATA, IMDG necessary; ADR and RID a plus

Key Responsibilities:
• Review and reconcile DG classification data utilizing knowledge of the SAP architecture and regulatory expertise.
• Comparison work across various data resources resulting in suggestion of overall classification at product/ bulk and material level.
• Escalate classification issues to the DG SME and DG classification specialists as necessary
• For DG materials in non-bulk quantities, apply UN specification and other standards related to packaging requirements, DG classification and quantities to determine if a material is allowed to be transported by each mode of transport based on regulatory guidelines, recognizing any exceptions that is or can be utilized.
• Using Excel formulas and macros, create data source files capturing the above information to load into various SAP systems.
• Perform the DG Master record fill and resolve any issues encountered during the process
• Work with other resources to test load functionality
• Participate in the implementation of the data, the data pre-and post-load validation process and product/ user acceptance test cycles.
• Provide support in classification and set up of new materials/new substances for transportation under ICAO/IATA, IMDG, CFR and TDG.
