Job Description: Technical Procedure Writer Job Description
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Takes the red-lined operating procedures and completes the following:
o Hazards and safety precaution details in the procedures, working with EH&S resources
o Conduct data gathering from operators and/or technical staff
o Conduct validation of procedure content accuracy, with operators or technical staff
o Conduct field verification of procedure content accuracy, with operators or technical staff
o Obtain necessary reviews and approvals to finalize procedure updates
• Works closely with Doc Admin and ODMS Coordinator
• Familiarizes and understands Dow's Environmental, Health and Safety policies and Beaumont site specifics policies with the ability to incorporate them into operating procedures.
Key competencies include:

INITIATIVE: Must have ability to identify and drive continuous improvement. Must be able to work independently without a lot of input from supervision.

INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS: Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with operations and technical teams. Must be able to work with multiple functions including EHS, Maintenance, and Tech Center and various departments across the site.

TEAMWORK: Excellent knowledge of team dynamics and empowerment is required. Must demonstrate strong commitment with respect to achievement of team goals through personal performance.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: Candidate must have a strong technical base and a very good understanding of technical tools used to troubleshoot and solve problems.

LEADERSHIP: Must have the ability to influence a diverse work group toward the achievement of plant goals.

COMMUNICATION: Candidate must demonstrate a well-developed skill in communications, both written and verbal, to plant personnel, integrated partners, and other related functions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong typing skill and computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Previous process operating experience (3 years minimum) in a chemical manufacturing facility is preferred.
• Ability to wear proper PPE (FRC, hard hat, gloves, monogoggles, hearing protection, safety toed shoes).
• Ability to work outside in the process areas (verifying procedure steps), including climbing stairs, up to 50% of the time.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous operating procedure writing experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Dow ODMS, Make Product Work Process and Life Critical Standards are preferred.
• Previous experience in aniline or nitrobenzene production is preferred.
Willing to be local to Beaumont area (within 30 miles traveling radius).

Pay range: $25-35/hr.
Assignment length - Minimum 6 months, indefinite in length
