 Knowledge of simple alphabet filing and simple arithmetic   calculations. 
           Knowledge of modern business office routines, procedures, and   equipment. 

            Ability to utilize presort guidelines using call numbers   and/or zip codes. 
           Ability to understand basic postal laws and mail unit and   other regulations and apply them in accordance with established   department procedures. 
           Ability to check, calculate, and record postage charges. 
           Ability to recognize presort in accordance with United States   Postal regulations. 
           Ability to do the manual work involved in the distribution,   collection, sorting, recording, and stamping of incoming and outgoing   letters and packages. 
           Ability to load, unload, and drive the mail truck as required. 
           Ability to do the routine manual work involved in operating   one or more mail and inserting machines under supervision and to   perform the attendant clerical detail work, including sealing,   wrapping, collecting, receiving, sorting, distributing, recording, and   stamping incoming and outgoing letters and packages. 
           Ability to perform the simple routine maintenance required for   continuous operation of mail room machinery. 
           Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or   manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or   related units. 
           Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in   English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. 
Desired: One (1) year of experience in the mail room of a large public or private entity. 
Mandatory: This is an entry level position and as such there are no formal education and/or experience requirements.
