Senior Denodo/Database Developer

  • Model data within the data virtualization tool Denodo.
  • Monitor, tune, and administer the Denodo environment.
  • Take on the role of technical lead for the Denodo platform.
  • Design, develop, and tune SQL in SQL based objects (free hand SQL, stored procedures, views, etc.) used in reports, ETL processes, data virtualization tools, and ad-hoc analysis tasks.
  • Leverage tools like SQL Tuning Advisor, explain plans, query plans, etc. to tune SQL based objects.
  • Assist self-service reporting tool users with SQL writing.
  • Assist and coach other technical resources on SQL tuning, data modeling, best practices, etc.
  • Tune Business Intelligence tools for best query performance.
  • Share in the support, maintenance, and administration responsibilities of all of the BI applications; these tools include SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Business Objects, and Denodo.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company.  Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
What You'll Need
  • BS in Information Technology or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience with Denodo strongly preferred.
  • SQL development and tuning experience in MS SQL (t-sql) and Oracle SQL (pl/sql) required.
  • Experience using SQL Management studio, TOAD, Oracle SQL Developer, SQL Data Tools or comparable database development tools required.
  • Experience using explain plans and query plans required.
  • Experience in traditional Microsoft Data Warehouse development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Business Objects preferred.
  • Must have strong documentation skills, organization skills, and the ability to interact with team members cross-functionally.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, clean room, or production floor.
  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
