Linux Systems Engineer

This position is in support of the Biomedical Translational Research Information System program. The Linux Engineer/Administrator will utilize Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for approximately 60 servers and evaluate products and upgrades for appropriateness, while overseeing and implementing system upgrade strategies. CLIENT is proud to be an integral part of the team that helps run the IT functions of the hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex solutions.
  • Coordinate activities with other technical personnel as appropriate and develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance.
  • Develop strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application
  • Monitor system maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required
  • Research current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
  • In-depth knowledge of and a minimum of 5 years hands-on Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience
  • Two years' experience with PKI Infrastructures, server certificates, Certificate Authority, Secure DNS (DNS SEC), systemd and daemon
  • Five years' experience installing Certificates, security, systems patches, and application configuration changes
  • Able to install and maintain the Linux Server operating system and various Linux applications and services such as Apache, TomCat, Kerberos, LDAP, Active Directory Puppet, Satellite Server, Bind, and Postfix, Bash, Python scripting
  • One year experience/knowledge of JIRA, Jenkins, Docker, and GIT
  • Thorough understanding and workings of Server protocols including, NTP, SMTP, SFTP, and email routing
  • Thorough understanding and workings of incident handling protocols, PII, Server network procedures, and classified information handling
  • BS in a related field and five years related experience or the equivalent or a MS and three years related experience or the equivalent.

  • Ansible, Chef and similar tools
  • Experience with Windows Enterprise Servers and Active Directory
