LPN's – 16 (7:30AM – 9PM three days a week every other weekend) Please confirm your candidates can work these shifts before presenting them.

Applies the Nursing process to assure quality care consistent with nursing policy, procedures and standard nursing practice according to Nurse Practice Act.

Provides daily physical care to patients.
Carries out all prescribed nursing interventions following individual comprehensive treatment plan.
May direct attendants in taking vital signs, charting, standard precautions and other technical nursing skills.
Assists and trains patients in daily hygiene, healthcare.
Reports and works with nursing team to resolve problems.
Consults with and accepts direction from RN.
Assists MD with physical exams.
Uses learned techniques to work with groups or individuals. Carries out specific programs and patient education cooperatively with other team members.
Participates in team meetings as assigned.
Implements all activities leading to goals and objectives.
Assists RN in developing daily nursing activities. Consults with RN in providing active treatment for patients.
Deviations from usual physical or psychosocial behavior are monitered and reported.
Administers medication according to all policies, procedures and safety practices.
Knows the indication for the medication, expected effect, and side effects. Educates each patient on their medications.
Provides medication education groups.
Follows accepted practices in giving PRN medication. Reports any medication variances immediately.
Follows all safety regulations and precautions. Documents and reports any known violation or hazard to
Participates in educational activities. Knowledgeable of all policies/procedures.
Accepts responsibility for competency according to Nurse Practice Act.
Accepts only those delegated nursing measures for which prepared and qualified.
Communicates, collaborates and functions with all other team members to provide safe, effective patient care.

Job requirement
- Specialized knowledge of principles of nursing care and ability to apply them.

- Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to hospitalized patients.
- Ability to maintain patients' records and prepare reports.
- Ability to safely set up and admiister medications and treatments.

work is of moderate complexity requiring the application of specailized knowledge to relatively standardized tasks.

Employee works under the general supervision and direction of a registered professional nurse in accordance with prescribed policies and procedure. Guidelines consist of nursing practice laws, established techniques, and established hospital policies and procedures. Employee exercises independent judgment following geneal or detailed instructions, depending upon the task.

physical Effort
Involves frequent sitting, lifting, bending, stooping, walking, standing for extended length of time, and running. Strength and physical dexterity are sometimes needed to control disturbed patients.

Working Condition
Work is performed mainly indoors in a psychiatric hospital. May be outdoors on grounds or off grounds accompanying patients as assigned.
