Cisco Engineering IT is seeking a lead Docker consultant to accelerate clientmigration from traditional VM-oriented application deployment to containers. We arebuildingand operatingan enterprise Docker container-as-a-service platform based on Rancherand RancherOS. Our mission is to provide the best end-user-experience possible with customizedplatform capabilities.The ideal candidate has a self-starter attitude and possesses a mix of technical knowledge andproject management experience.A track record ofdelivering architecture and implementation for short (1-2 month) client projects, with the coordination of a larger team in an agile scrum environment, isessential to fill the expectations of this role.Ourgrowingteam is dedicated to better the delivery of software development tools and services to Cisco Engineering. We value collaboration, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for our mission.ResponsibilitieshCollaborate with program leaders on vision and architecturehProvide Docker consultation and implementation for internal Cisco clientshWork with development teams to migrate and port traditional applications to DockerhAnalyze brownfield applications and provide architectural overhaul solutionshAnalyze greenfield requirements and propose architectural solutionshEducate teams on technical and workflow considerations of Docker adoptionhConduct project management responsibilities for involved engagementshInterpret high-level requirements and refine as agile-based implementation storieshManage competing priorities in the backlog and optimize deliveryhWork closely with developers to clarify business and technical requirementsSkills and Experienceh4+ years in architecture and implementation consulting roleh4+ years wrangling Linux Red Hat/Debian environments from the CLIh4+ years advanced experience deploying applications with Linux-specific considerations (e.g. kernel features/glibc/musl/apk/apt/compiling packages/iptables/filesystems/etc.)h2+ years hands-on experience building Docker-based architectures in productionh2+ years managing scope and delivery timelines of projecth2+ years participatingin an agile environment (Kanban or Scrum)hExperience with Rancher/RancherOS a plushExperience with Kubernetes/Mesos/Swarm/Flannel/Weave/VXLAN/etcd/consul a plushExperience with alternative process isolation technology e.g. (zones/jails/etc) a plushSolid track record of managing customers in a demanding environmenthVery strong communication and collaboration skillshStrong analytical and problem-solving skillshAdvanced degree in relevant field or equivalent education via career experience
