The Durham Development Services Center is in need of a temporary employee to assist us full time for the next several weeks/months. We are located on the ground floor of City Hall, at 101 City Hall Plaza, Durham, NC 27701.

We will need to have someone start as soon as possible (After a successful interview with us.) – Monday, November 13th start would be ideal.
We hope to conduct interviews this Thursday, November 9th.


We are looking to fill one full time position (35 to 40 hours weekly M-F). The work will include greeting and assisting walk in customers with varying needs (will need to ask questions to determine how to direct/handle), answering phones (asking questions and taking detailed messages), data entry, and other tasks as assigned. Exact hours to be determined, but candidate must be available M-F from 8:00am until 5:00 or 5:15pm.

Please note that the candidate will definitely need to be available 8-5 on Nov 20, 21, and 22 (but not November 23 and 24 when we are closed) and also all dates that we are open in December (we are closed on December 25 and 26).
  • Customer Service work experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed.
  • Call center experience is a big plus for one of the positions.
  • High volume in-person reception experience is a big plus for the second position.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly is a plus.
  • Must thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to adjust easily to changes in duties and situations.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Must be highly reliable and show up ready to work every day.
