Profit and Loss Business Development Manager

Leads the Application and Data Sciences Division to meet financial and operational objectives. Assist Company President in developing and executing a strategic plan to advance the company's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability and meet growth and earnings objectives within approved clients and markets. Has responsibility for all areas of divisional management including product line management, marketing, business development, proposal development, contract management and divisional program and project management. Oversees internal and external service delivery operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the President in the formation of long-term corporate and business strategies for the company and the division; including associated annual operating plans.
  • Comprehend and assess the Division's financial position and update the current profit and loss statement.
  • Establish a set performance benchmarks for the company's average revenue and expense levels.
  • Prepare analytical tools to allow management to isolate costs that could contribute to decreasing profits.
  • Identify acquisition and merger opportunities and direct integration activities.
  • Promote the company through meetings with current and future clients, partners, vendors, participation in industry and channel leadership and events, written publications and other promotional activities that directly benefit the company.
  • Build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships in the federal and private sectors;
  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and business development strategies including sales and account plans to capture new clients and expand existing accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and attain work with a strong network of professionals and clients; develop teaming relationships and opportunities
  • Assess the current state of the business development functions across the landscape of people, process and systems and identify gaps and opportunities in all areas.
  • Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
  • Oversee proposal efforts
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Lead the marketing, business development, proposal development, contract management and divisional program and project management efforts.
  • Respond to RFIs, RFPs, and manage the lifecycle of proposal and capture process from identification to post award execution
  • Effectively facilitate meetings so that objectives are met.
  • Communicate with client(s) to identify business needs and understand client(s) requirements and needs even if the client(s) can't articulate them.
  • Apply knowledge of industry and trends to improve service to the client(s) including suggesting alternative solutions to meet client requirements more effectively.
  • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements including identifying project resources, timelines and scope.
  • Manage day-to-day project activities and client interactions and expectations.
  • Passionate about business results, with a keen sense of accountability, metrics and ownership

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION
 
  • Security clearance and Master Degree is preferred. 
  • At least 4 years of leading a P&L center
