FT Role in NYC
ROLE SUMMARY OF SQL DBA
The candidate will be a technical hand on member of the Database Administration team providing infrastructure services and operational support on a global basis for both Oracle and Microsoft SQL technologies. The role will consist of a combination of incident, requests and proactive platform management activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provide excellent technical support for Oracle and SQL Database environment.
• Provide operational support for DB issues initiated from Incidents or Changes.
Provide solutions and root-cause analysis of system performance and failure related issues.
Work on an onsite shift-rota and provide off site 24x7 support.
Work on projects and provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new databases and initiatives into the Production environment.
• Work closely with manager and team members.
• Review and recommend options to improve the effectiveness of the database infrastructure.
Establish / maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business.
• Performance monitoring / Testing and capacity planning.
• Creation / maintenance of full system documentation, including DR documentation.
Innovation – continually looking at ways to improve infrastructure, for a faster and more efficient environment.
• To fulfil additional / ad hoc duties as requested in order to meet the needs of the business.

SKILLS OF SQL DBA
Excellent working knowledge of Oracle RDBMS 9i\10\11g
• Excellent working knowledge of Oracle RAC
• Excellent working knowledge of Oracle Forms
Excellent working knowledge of SQL 2000\2005\2008\2012
• Experience working with NOSQL
• Experience using a scripting language to automate tasks
• Excellent working knowledge of SQL High Availability features
Experience of performance and tuning optimizing SQL DB's
• Experience of monitoring and alerting tools for DB's

KNOWLEDGE:
• Experience of ITIL v3 standards or a certificate in ITIL v3 foundation skills beneficial
• Oracle/ MS SQL Server certification preferable
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE:
• 5 + years of DBA experience with strong Oracle RDBMS and SQL 2005\2008\2012
• Proven track record of operational support and delivery
• The candidate will be a member of a Database Administration team providing infrastructure services and operational support across a global company
• Ability to and experience of working in fast-paced, technology led environment
• Experience of using best practice IT Service Management tools to log and manage user calls and provide first time resolution where practical
• Experience of Service Now is preferred
• Must be able to demonstrate competency and exposure to:
o Oracle 11g/12c database architecture and performance tuning
o Oracle Real application cluster
o SQL server Always on and Mirroring and Cluster setup
o Shell scripting
o Sybase

SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Shift rota basis (between 7.30am – 6pm) and on-call rota
• Public Holiday cover
• After hours and weekend work as and when required
