We are hiring a Scrum Master for a FinTech client in Plano! This is a contract to hire opportunity with no option for sponsorship. 

As a Scrum Master, the candidate must posses proven Servant Leader skills by providing support to the Team using a servant leadership style and leading by example. This person should personify Scrum and Agile. The Scrum Master must be willing to dive into the trenches to drive the success of the team. The Scrum Master must be able facilitate Agile/Scrum/Kanban rituals and ensure that Agile/Scrum/Kanban principles are adhered to. Ensure the team’s action are always aligned with the project goals and are aligned with the acceptance criteria. The Scrum Master will shield the team from interferences and promptly address anything that is impeding the team.

What You'll Do: 
  • Lead story refinement sessions to ensure that all requirements have been captured, stories are correctly prioritized, acceptance criteria exists for all stories coming into a sprint, by working closely with the Agile Team and Product Owner .
  • Conduct Sprint Planning sessions by reviewing and bringing into the sprint the highest priority stories and use planning poker as a tool to do story point estimation. Ensure that stories meet the “definition of ready”.
  • Work with the Team and Product Owner to review and update regression tests as needed and ensure that regression tests are being conducted on impacted applications.
  • Track the Team’s velocity, understand the deltas between sprints, and react accordingly. Follow the organization’s direction on the specific standards for using JIRA and other corporate tools. Maintain a burndown chart in JIRA.
  • Kanban experience is a plus.
  • Excellent writing skills, clearly and concisely communicates.
  • Encourage all the team members that they are responsible for ensuring that all stories have met the “definition of done” before closing.
  • Coach the team to increase their maturity level

Skills/Experience You'll Need:
  • Certified Scrum Master or obtaining certification within the next 6 months.
  • Must be fluent in Java, and be able assist with code development when needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of IntelliJ, Eclipse, Maven and Tomcat.
  • Strong working knowledge with SCM tools such as GIT or Subversion.
  • Experience with the following softwares:
    • JIRA
    • Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel

    • Personable – Must have outstanding people skills and gain respect of the team by leading by example; inspires and motivates. Demonstrates a positive attitude by always looking for ways to change (improve work rather than focusing on rejecting change.)
    • Resolves disagreements and conflicts constructively. Knows when to involve others. Uses objectivity, discretion, confidentiality and objectivity to gain trust.
    • Educate and coach Scrum/Kanban with the Team, Product Owner, Management and any co-suppliers.
    • Leads the team to try new experiments and also focus on working smarter rather than harder; embraces automation.
