IT Communications Specialist


The IT Communications Specialist will own and manage the IT department's content presence and will partner with other departments to support their content management and content creation on the firm's intranet. Additionally, the individual will develop communication strategies, determine appropriate communication media, create plans, and draft communications for project-related communications while collaborating with IT Project Teams, the CIO, Technology Training, and various other departments as needed. The IT Communications Specialist will ensure clear, organized, understandable, and user- and situation-specific communications for the intranet, IT projects, firm wide IT communications, and IT newsletters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Serve as the main point of contact for content-related inquiries and support for the firm's intranet content management system
    • Own and manage IT's content presence on the firm intranet by collaborating with IT leadership to ensure accuracy and relevancy of information for firm personnel
    • Partner with all other departments (e.g. Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting, Knowledge Management, etc.) to support their content management and content creation on the firm intranet
    • Create and manage a content refresh lifecycle for all departments to follow by analyzing available data and recommending improvements for better displaying and conveying information
    • Support IT and other departments in communicating key messages via the intranet and other IT-supported platforms 
    • Working with the IT Change Management Lead, create and execute an IT Communications plan for assigned projects, collaborating with leads of impacted functional areas to ensure appropriate messaging and communication channels
    • Manage overall project-related communications components, identifying cross-functional dependencies, key milestones, and critical paths while working with Project Managers and their teams to ensure schedules stays aligned with the overall IT initiative 
    • Own, assess, and improve the existing IT outage and maintenance communications processes
    • Determine appropriate communication media for IT messages, make recommendations, and when appropriate, explore new options
    • Identify new ways for the IT organization to engage our firm personnel and increase technology adoption
    • Analyze available communications metrics to recommend improvements for the firm's intranet, IT project-related communications, and maintenance communications
    • Develop and execute on a comprehensive communications strategy for the IT organization
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in working with end user communications, corporate communications and/or marketing
  • Extensive writing and content development experience
  • Content management system experience (preferred: SiteCore) and skill in web-based writing
  • Experience with information technology, technology communications strategy, planning and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to balance business and user benefit with implementation complexity
  • Ability to work with various teams to identify communications needs, develop communications plans, craft messaging appropriately and execute on these plans
