Director of Data Governance

A leading data analytics company is looking for a Director of Data Governance for its St. Louis office. The Director of Data Governance will provide leadership and direction in Data Governance and Data Management to the organization. The incumbent is accountable for developing and implementing data governance/management principles, as well as executing processes and standards to ensure integrity for data access and usage.

Job Responsibilities
  • Development and Execution of data governance program to include but not limited to:
    • Request process for Acceptable Data Uses of business unit data assets
    • Policy and Standards associated with business unit data assets
    • Development of Data Management and Metadata best practices
    • Creation and ongoing support of cross-functional policy making teams
    • Organizational alignment of implementation responsibilities
  • Work closely with enterprise and business unit stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise business plans and strategic initiatives
  • Develop and deploy internal audit functions to monitor compliance with data governance principles
  • Provide subject matter expert support in all aspects of data governance, including business process controls and ongoing monitoring
  • Develop and manage program metrics and reporting which includes reports and readouts to Senior Leadership.
  • Conduct adhoc information management projects as dictated by business initiatives
  • Research industry trends and key market information for continuous program improvement.
  • Continually seek to improve the knowledge, skills, professionalism and productivity of the team by providing training, guidance, coaching and feedback
Skills/Experience
  • 8+ years of professional business experience with a progressive track record of accomplishments in Information Governance or Data Management
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive experience in developing, planning and executing data management and/or data governance improvement initiatives.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated leadership and partnering skills, plus excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners (including senior leadership) with focus on informing, influencing and relationship building
  • Skilled at setting strategies, and developing and executing plans around the strategies
  • Strong consultative skills which includes the proven ability to influence consensus decision making across a variety of stakeholders and to succinctly document the outcome of these decisions
  • Advanced ability to manipulate and present information in Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Experience with Confluence, Sharepoint and/or Agile a bonus
  • Good understanding of consumer credit reporting or information services industry is desired
  • Experience in an analytics function is a plus
  • Functional knowledge of Governance, Risk & Control (GRC) systems, specifically Archer – a plus
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations that impact – FCRA, GLBA, UDAAP, Dodd-Frank – a plus
