Business Analyst- Data Management

Our client is looking for a Business Analyst to join their Data and Analytics organization for a Data Management and Stewardship Specialist supporting our Workforce Solutions (EWS) business unit. This role will be part of the Data Strategy function and will focus on enabling the optimal usage of our data assets.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, analyzing data quality issues and promoting data quality improvement initiatives, participating in development, maintenance, and compliance of data asset policies, managing appropriate business metadata, and providing communication and training to the business to promote approved usage of data assets. This role will have the ability to work in cross-functional teams and will have the influence to determine how data related business problems are solved.

Responsibilities of Business Analyst – Data Management
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Partnering with Data Governance to develop controls as they apply to data asset policies and acting as a data advisor for the business in the determination of acceptable uses of data assets. Leading a cross-functional team in the creation and management of data asset policies.
  • Owning the Data Quality Assessment for a data asset. This will include analyzing current data quality metrics and partnering with analysts to develop data quality metrics which align to overall business imperatives.
  • Owning the metadata model for EWS data assets. Defining the metadata model to capture and manage our information assets and maintaining the model during changing business objectives. The metadata may include but not limited to the following information assets:
    • Data Assets
    • System Transaction Data
    • Business Entity Data
    • Data Contributor Profile Data
    • End User Profile Data
    • Information Management Data Governance Controls
  • Collaborating with business information stewards and the technology stewards on populating the metadata environment
  • Data planning with the business information stewards and business areas. Capturing business needs and advocating on behalf of the business in interactions with IT.
  • Creating and executing a training program to deliver relevant information about key information assets to multiple audiences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Business or Science discipline or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years' experience in Information Management, Data Governance, or related experience.
  • 3+ years' experience of analytics or enabling an analytics environment.
  • Expert knowledge of data management including exposure to any of the following: metadata, master data, reference data, and content & document management systems.
  • Exposure to relational databases is required and proficiency with SQL.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring staff members.
  • Ability to quickly understand new business initiatives and identify scope / challenges.
  • Advanced Microsoft Product skills to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • 5+ years process development and project execution experience.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking and collaboration skills.
