Our client is a full-service insurance brokerage with more than 50 years' experience.   We specialize in a niche area of the Commercial Automobile / Worker's Compensation market that focuses on the for-hire-vehicle industry in New York City.  They have 7 offices in NYC and manages a consistent and growing book of the core business.  We pride ourselves on being a business that's dedicated to providing excellent service and attention to each of our clients.  This is in an exciting industry and an exciting company focused on improving their customer experience as we transition to becoming an insurtech company.
We are actively seeking a highly-motivated and experienced programmer/analyst with strong interpersonal and technical skills to drive the development of products that enhance its web-based insurance policy management platform.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of system specifications and decision flows, in the form of flow charts or equivalent techniques, from written business requirements
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, with regard to system issues
  • Design, code, test, analyze, debug, documents, and maintain software applications  
  • Responsible for programming and software development using Ruby on Rails
  • Perform integration with third-party platforms
  • Maintain and modify existing application systems.
  • 5+ years overall development experience.
  • Strong object-oriented development knowledge in Ruby on Rails
  • Knowledge of C++, Java, and Javascript.
  • Design and programming of relational database applications.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and distributed computing technologies.
  • Demonstrates experience with operational excellence.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting skills, with an enthusiastic attitude to support and resolve customer problems
