This person must be self-motivated, detailed oriented and a team player. The role requires interaction with Network Engineering, Trading Systems Help Desk, Systems Operations, Software Development, the Business Strategy Group and the Exchange's customer base.
 
The major areas of responsibility are:
  • Building out and managing monitoring tools to improve network monitoring and customization of vendor tools. Performing network data analysis and data reporting to support Trading Operations.
  • Operating and monitoring the network infrastructure in support of clients exchanges.
  • Participate in managing the change control process, implementation and fallback planning, business continuity planning and supporting periodic testing.
Qualifications:
  • Deep knowledge of network communications protocols such as the TCP/IP protocol suite, packet capture analysis, troubleshooting and latency analysis. 
  • Packet capture tools, TAP aggregation and time synchronization experience a must.
  • Knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 network protocols, Multicast and SNMP a must.
  • Command line interface experience of deploying basic network configurations a must.
  • Heavy experience with network monitoring and analytical/troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong Knowledge of the LINUX command line interface and LINUX network stack a must.
  • Deep knowledge of common Financial Industry protocols, such as FIX, OPRA, CTS & UTP market data feed protocols.
  • Programming and scripting skills (Perl, Python, Shell, and etc.) a good plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and/or
  • Visio a plus. 
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual or within a team.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and excellent communication and organizational skills a must.
  • NOC or customer support experience a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of working in network operations or engineering in a financial organization a plus.
  • Programming experience in a technical domain such as networking or systems software a plus.
  • Trading systems environment support a plus.
  • Knowledge of equity and/or options products is a plus.
