Human Resources Manager

Our client, a logistics company is seeking a Human Resources Manager in their NYC office. The ideal candidate will have multi-site, multi-state experience in diversified areas of Human Resources including payroll, benefits, recruiting, talent management, workforce planning, employment law, employee training and development, change management and organizational development. This is a very hands on position and the ideal candidate has to be both transactional and strategic in their role.

Human Resources Manager Responsibilities:
  • Serve both our internal and external customers while making the HR position a part of the strategic planning for the organization.
  • Review and modify existing company policies as well as implement new policy in accordance with federal, state and local statutes.
  • Identify and define and improve processes associated with Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Compensation, Policy Making, and Training.
  • Manage all aspects of Group Health Plans, Responsible for implementation, enrollments, renewals and problem solving.
  • Develop job descriptions, employee performance appraisals, new hire on boarding / orientation program and performance improvement plans.
  • Responsible for entire payroll processing for exempt and non-exempt payroll.
  • Responsible for 401k plan administration for the company including enrollment, audits and completion of 5500 forms.
  • Maintain all benefits program as required (health, voluntary, transit, etc.)
Human Resources Manager Requirements:
  • 10+ years of leadership and people management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required and ill consider 10 direct years of relevant work experience with at least 5 years proven management experience in lieu of degree.
  • SPHR strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in logistics company preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects or initiatives critical to the success of the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive hiring results through creative recruiting techniques in a fast-paced environment.
  • Project management experience balancing multiple projects while still meeting established deadlines.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable Federal and State laws and regulatory provisions, including, Affirmative Action, FLSA, FMLA, Title VII, ADA and other human resources-related laws.
  • Knowledge of HRIS Systems
  • Ability to process and oversee Payroll and the related functions
