Senior Network Engineer

Our Client is a Billion Dollar start-up unicorn that focuses on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions. Since established in 2007 they have grown to about 1000 employees with over 10 offices around the world.

They are currently seeking a Network Engineer join their growing team based out of Norwalk CT. The Senior Network Engineer should recommend solutions to solve networking issues and work closely with other team members to meet common objectives. The Senior Network Engineer should have a good base understanding of BGP and other data center technologies. He/She should also be eager to learn and work on new hardware and technologies. He/She should be very self-motivated and be able to succeed with minimal day to day supervision. This engineer should be respectful and courteous to all other departments.

Primary Responsibilities for Senior Network Engineer:
  • Diagnose and resolve highly technical networking situations and problems
  • Take ownership of chronic network issues, the functionally of the network, and accountability for his/her work
  • Maintain and verify all hardware is running within specified parameters and complete upgrade tasks when deficiencies are found
  • Troubleshoot Internet routing issues, communicate with peers/providers, and execute solutions to solve service impacting situations
  • Work with network hardware vendors to diagnose and recommend resolutions for hardware outages, bugs, and scalability limitations
  • Research and work with new networking hardware or technologies
  • Work with security devices to deploy ACLs, VPNs and IDS services
  • Work on call for one week out of each month
  • Help with management of NMS systems as well as scripting for network operations tasks
Qualifications for Senior Network Engineer:
  • Previous data center networking experience
  • Highly skilled in troubleshooting techniques
  • 2 to 5 years of work experience as a network engineer preferably backed by current Cisco CCNP and/or Client certifications
  • Calm under pressure, a team player, flexible, and customer focused
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Hands-on working experience with Cisco Nexus, 6500s, ASAs, and Client Comware and Procurve series devices
  • Detailed security experienced with ACLs, IPsec, SSL, traffic inspection, and DDoS mitigation techniques
  • A working understanding of networking technologies such as MSTP, 802.3ad, OSPF, route reflectors, confederations, HSRP, BFD, IPv6, FIB/RIB, distributed forwarding, Netflow, AAA, layer 2 switching, and QoS
  • Experience with scripting languages like Perl, PHP, and shell scripting
  • Experience using and managing NMS systems such as syslog, Oxidized, Zabbix, and Tacacs
