Business Unit Overview:
The Trading & Market Documentation team is part of Blackrock's Investment Operations Organization responsible for the market opening, trade messaging and settlement instruction management. The team is also engaged in all cross-functional tasks within the broader organization which consists of Trade Operations, Derivative Operations, Securities Lending, and Corporate Actions. Candidates will support a growing area in a dynamic and challenging environment on a global team that has presence in the US and UK.
Job Purpose/Background:
The team is responsible for the onboarding of trade related information in support of our new and existing accounts. The team manages critical data that drive trade confirmation, settlement, trade routing as well as STP with providers (Custodians/Fund Administrators/Transfer Agents) and counterparties. The team works side by side with our production teams in our core operating centers in Delaware, Edinburgh, and San Francisco. The function is responsible for responding to requests, establishing messaging with our Service Provides and maintaining data integrity of the markets, settlement instructions and messaging.
Skills: Key Responsibilities:
► Onboarding of new portfolios including operational set ups that are completed in advance of new fund launches, integration activity, and other events
► Interact with global custodians to open markets, establish standing instructions and to ensure readiness for trading, confirmation and settlement
► Ensure any subsequent changes to the trade routing requirements are made in a timely manner
► Take part in STP (Straight Through Processing) discussion and initiatives with BlackRock's top providers
► Take an active part in the various integration activities that the group is involved with
► Set up and maintain all counterparty instructions on BlackRock systems
► Actively review business processes to ensure that efficiencies are maximized whilst maintaining a rigorous level of control
► Produce & distribute departmental performance metrics
► Work with the Portfolio Management Group to understand what operational requirements they have and ensure that these are reflected in the appropriate systems
► Work closely with our global Trade Ops, Deriv Ops, and Corporate Actions team to support onboarding set ups and ensure no operational risk

Education: ► Candidate should possess a college degree – preferably in Business, Finance, or a related field
►Strong attention to detail required
► Candidate must have enthusiasm for, and comfort with, working at a fast pace with regularly changing demands and tight deadlines
► Experience of working in an operations department in an Investment Management, Custodian, Broker Dealer, Investment Bank or similar environment is a plus
► Knowledge of the International Settlement (Equity & Fixed Income) and current market practices is a plus but not required
► Knowledge of SWIFT message formats is a plus but not required
► Excellent organizational and time management skills
► Solid knowledge of Microsoft office suite of applications, particularly Excel, is essential
► Up to 2 years industry experience
