Infrastructure Project Manager

  • Description:
    • Working understanding of generally accepted project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
    • Understanding of critical technology project and program management phases and components (i.e., risk, requirements/specifications, design, build, test, release, compliance, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of main IT functions and services, and ability to come up to speed quickly in required areas of expertise relevant to the success of the project
    • High-level understanding of business processes and data within and across business functions (not required for new hires—acquired knowledge)
    • Typical candidates will possess at least 4+ years of relevant experience and a BA/BS degree
    • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PgMP, PMI-SP) desirable
    • Apply technical expertise and work independently within scope, receiving moderate guidance and direction from work team and/or manager on large, new tasks
  • Requirements:
**Manager prefers experience in hardware or infrastructure projects rather than software development projects
  • Participate in projects such as new technology implementations or enhancements, conducting audits, implementing new controls, establishing governance, developing new technology policies, and managing business continuity
  • Prepare required project documents, including project status reports, briefings, time reports, and other project control documents
  • Develop project timeline, keep it up to date and ensure the project is in on track with key milestones and deadlines
  • Monitor project schedules and work assignments as required
  • Document and communicate the agreed upon project resources
  • Aware of project risks for assigned projects and monitor status of known risks
  • May participate in vendor interactions
  • Conduct a post-project review as required ensuring all deliverables and commitments have been met and there has been compliance with the project methodology.  
  • Support more senior project managers with aspects of an IT project, typically involving multiple disciplines in the IT function, and utilize skills to resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met
  • Serve as an independent contributor with knowledge in at least one technical area
  • Monitor a piece of a project or a small independent project
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Use project management tools, analyze project requirements and apply project management methodology, as defined by the PM team
  • Informally assist others with problems/issues
  • Solve a range of problems within area of expertise and apply known toolkit to new problems
  • Analyze a chain of events and applies technical knowledge; collect facts and basic rationale to facilitate decision making or problem resolution or timeline development
  • Apply compliance requirements within scope of responsibility, provide documentation as necessary, and participate in compliance activities as required
