Position Summary:

The Sr Payroll Analyst is responsible for processing multi-state biweekly payroll for all employees in the payroll system. This role will also establish workflow and procedures for multi-state payroll operations and will supervise the researching, collection, auditing and analyzing of payroll and timesheet data.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Establish workflows and procedures for multi-state payroll operations.
Reconciliation and analysis of all payroll data.
Preparation of wires/notifications for payroll funding.
Identification and/or resolution of payroll issues as they arise.
Review and analyze garnishments, levies and child support orders, verification of the proper garnishment of wages, and remittance of payments to the appropriate agencies
Research and resolve all payroll discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner by collecting and analyzing information
Supervise the collection, auditing and analyzing of payroll and timesheet data.
Manage the year-end payroll activities.
Act as internal corporate payroll expert and resolve escalated payroll issues.
Train and coordinate the work of other staff assigned to the department
Monitor and administer controls to ensure correct tax setup in UltiPro for all employees. Stay up-to-date with Federal, State, and Local tax laws.
Prepare filings of quarterly amendments with Ceridian. Reconcile quarterly 941 filings to final W-2 report and general ledger.
Document and update payroll tax procedures. Maintain library of tax tools and research materials to ensure tax filings are accurate. Communicate with federal/state/local government agencies to resolve any tax issues.

Minimum Requirements:

AA/AS Degree;
Basic accounting principles as related to payroll processing
Knowledge of payroll laws, state and federal regulations
Experience managing payroll operation with at least 3000 employees
Experience using payroll and time management systems
Proficient in Excel/Word
Excellent customer service skills
Knowledge of standard payroll department practices and procedures
Knowledge of principals and techniques of payroll record keeping
Skills and ability or research, analyze and retrieve data to prepare and maintain complex payroll records/reports

Preferred Requirements:

Bachelor's degree
5+ years of payroll/benefit processing experience
Proficient in Excel/Word
Knowledge and application of Federal, State, Local payroll/employment laws
Knowledge of Multi-State Taxation regulatory requirements
Experience using: UltiPro HR/Payroll integrated system; Cognos (Payroll report writing system) and/or Workday payroll and report writing system
Excellent analytical skills
Abilities interpret, explain and comply with prescribed law, rules, and procedures
Monitor, audit, reconcile and balance variety of data and transactions
Perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately; identify and correct errors
Use independent judgment to maintain statistical records
Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Work independently and as a team member
FPP or CPP Certification
