The Position:
The Unix Administrator will provide technical leadership and direction for the Architecture, Design, Maintenance and 3rd Level Support of a 7 x 24 global infrastructure. This is a long-term contract budgeted through the end of 2017 with the ability to convert to a permanent employee before then.

  • Provide technical leadership and decisions for projects
  • Manage, plan, and coordinate efforts and resources on portfolio and functional projects
  • Review and provide requirements for Concept Design Docs
  • Work closely with project managers to create and update project plans
  • Prioritize and staff multiple projects
  • Responsible for the adherence and enforcement of the project life cycle including estimating Engineering effort, project plans, system design specs, participating in technical reviews
  • Provide strong organizational skills
  • Foster teamwork among staff, peers and cross-functional teams
  • Work closely with the Architecture team to provide input to new technology strategies
  • Work closely with Peers to improve workflow processes & communication
  • Actively strives to keep Standards documents, Process and Procedures Documents, and Baseline documents up to date with emerging industry standards
  • Initiates Changes through company Change Management to address issues proactively and can effectively delegates work to others to complete like activities
  • Responsible for Infrastructure Support (3rd Level) for:
    • Servers – Solaris on Oracle (Sun), Linux on VMware (Client)
    • Storage – EMC VMAX/Clariion/VNX, Oracle ZFS Appliances
    • Virtual Networking – Oracle Virtual Networking (Xsigo)
    • SAN –Cisco MDS
    • Cluster Software– Veritas, Sun Cluster, Oracle ASM
  • 10-15 years, hands on, experience as a Unix Administrator in an Engineering position
  • A strong engineering educational background is preferred
  • Multiyear experience with EMC Storage Arrays and Software – Clariion, VMAX, SRDF is beneficial
  • Multiyear experience with Solaris on Sun servers
  • Multiyear experience with Clustering Software required. Veritas is preferred and experience with Oracle ASM storage configurations is beneficial
  • Experience with Oracle Multi-Core Servers (T-Class) and Virtualization (Zones, LDOMs)
  • Strong experience with RHEL 6.x or 7.x n a VMWare environment
  • Experience with Docker and AWS would be very beneficial
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Kickstart Automation
  • Experience with VMware SRM, VMware vRealize Automation would be very beneficial
  • Experience with Centrify Authentication Management and Auditing Tools would be very beneficial.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and day to day activities
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to lead junior members of the team with very little input from upper management
  • Expected to learn and enforce existing processes as quickly as possible
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to assist Network teams with trouble shooting network issues
