Linux/C Software Developer, Embedded Firmware Engineer

Pay Rate : $ 90,000.00 - 110,000.00 /Year
Become the subject matter expert for a mission-critical application, including project development and enhancements.  The real-time application runs in multiple environments including: Linux, OS9, and Windows. 
You will be:
  • Be an integral team player on a small but experienced engineering team working on a variety of innovative commercial and Research and Development traffic flow projects using Embedded C.
  • Work closely with senior developers (software and hardware) who are experts in their field.
  • Develop products for intelligent traffic management systems on embedded Linux platform using open source tools and development processes.
  • Extending applications, from developing whole new subsystems to making minor enhancements.
  • Developing for multiple environments that include target systems and simulation platforms.
  • Encompassing the entire life-cycle, from user needs through implementation and maintenance using an Agile methodology.
  • Planning project and reporting status.
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with Linux/Unix tools and scripting language.
  • At least 5 (five) years of experience with the Unix/Linux operating system with a deep understanding of Unix/Linux design.
  • At least 5 (five) years of experience in application architecture with a broad background in embedded firmware development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in C programming required.
  • Experienced project and team lead with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong experience developing protocols and interfaces to external systems or devices.
  • Lower-Level hardware interface experience.
  • Experience with user-interface and system reliability
  • Embedded debugging experience
  • Experience with code portability, code reuse and standardized interfaces.
  • Root cause analysis
  • Able to juggle wide variety of components, skills and tasks.
  • Experience writing code for event driven systems
  • Experience with python, and unit test framework.
  • Linux Kernel development is a definite plus.
  • Solid experience with software and test/validation, automated software build, Embedded Application development, real-time and driver level development, change management and revision control, technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Broad background in GNU/Linux (MontaVista preferred but not required), C, Python, Perl, Java, Unix shells and utilities, Tcl/Tk, Assembler, GNU build system, make, Junit/PyUnit/*Unit, Subversion Source Control, XML.
  • Experience writing systems solving traffic problems is preferred.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment is preferred.
