Infrastructure Project Manager

Working as part of the Program Management Office responsible for managing a large portfolio of projects across the Group, a dynamic hands on Technical Project Manager with strong analysis skills is required to join the team in New York.

As one of the key technical project leads within New York the Infrastructure Project Manager will be responsible for leading the delivery of various technical projects associated with a large and diverse technology migration. The scope of projects undertaken will be varied in terms of complexity, size and technologies and as such the successful candidate needs to be flexible, open minded and motivated to be hands on. The projects will encompass both the trading and corporate environments of the business, and will involve both in house proprietary technology and more standard "COTS” technology.

Responsibilities of Infrastructure Project Manager will include working with the CTOs, IT Operation Leads, Architects, business, Program Managers, Development Leads and the relevant functional team leads to capture and analyze the requirements, plan the projects and coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the interface and relationship with the relevant project customers (whether business or IT).

Responsibilities for this Infrastructure Project Manager role include all aspects of the project lifecycle from initiation and planning through to delivery and closure.
  • The ideal candidate will have sound practical project management experience within a technology driven industry. Experience and knowledge of capital & OTC markets and electronic trading is a plus
  • At least 5 years of project management experience delivering technical IT infrastructure orientated projects
  • Evidence of strong requirements management important
  • High PM methodology standards but ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment and evidence of flexibility to adapt approach depending on risks, environment, constraints etc.
Strong analytical skills and ability to grasp and communicate complex problems.
  • Sound experience in project planning, project monitoring and control, reporting etc. using tools/techniques that are fit for purpose
  • Experience of project finance management and reporting
Awareness of ITIL or equivalent service management controls and specifically experience of leading production change management and operational service transition activities
The role will include working across the following technology areas so relevant knowledge and experience is very useful:
  • WAN/LAN Networking design and implementation (including trans-Atlantic), VPNs, Financial Extranets e.g. BTR
  • Storage solutions and systems
  • Windows platforms
  • Linux platforms
  • Trading systems (OMS, Post Trade, Market Data) including FIX interfaces
  • Market Data distribution systems (including Bloomberg and Reuters platforms)
  • Citrix and VMware environments
  • SQL/Oracle databases
  • CUCM
  • Voice/Dealerboard systems
  • Clearing systems
    Working knowledge of implementing operational tools and processes (monitoring, backup, DR etc)
    Sound awareness of system development and test methodologies
