We are seeking a networks engineer to provide network engineering skills and operational support to the functions provided by network security services.

About the role:
The scope of technical functions that are covered by this are firewalls, web security platforms, intrusion protection and detection, network access control systems, routing, switching, load balancers and remote access. In order to be successful an interest in technical network security services together with the ability to pick up network technology concepts is required. Previous network experience would be preferred but not essential. An inquisitive mindset in technology would also be beneficial
Key Responsibilities:
  • design, build and release network solutions to meet business, service and lifecycle network security requirements
  • implement automated solutions to current manual tasks
  • perform proactive platform systems management
  • resolve operational issues
  • create knowledgebase articles to share experiences
  • ongoing upgrade and maintenance of associated platform hardware
  • perform root-cause analysis and solve problems
  • design and build operational reports to provide an overview of service health
  • work with product vendors to troubleshoot issues
  • provide first-class system support from initial contact to closure
  • execute maintenance and disaster recovery tests on a scheduled basis or as required
  • work with other global infrastructure teams to implement/execute change requests
  • identify, report and resolve poorly performing system issues using agreed troubleshooting tools and processes
  • troubleshoot issues using structured processes
About You:
  • University degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent
  • ability to work co-operatively with global technology teams
  • problem solver who is able to assimilate data in order to resolve issues
  • ability to deal effectively with colleagues and business users working in a constantly evolving environment across multiple time-zones and cultures
  • customer-focused with a "service first" mentality and good communication skills
  • self-starter with a can do attitude
  • exposure to ITIL or other service management based methodologies
The following attributes are considered desirable:
  • exposure to at least 1 programming language
  • prior experience resolving network issues
  • prior experience resolving technical issues where root cause is unknown
